Freezing Cold Takes was founded and operated by Fred Segal in November 2016. It is an extension of the Freezing Cold Takes twitter feed (@OldTakesExposed) which Segal started in 2015, which primarily posts funny posts of old unprophetic & non-prognosticative (mostly sports) takes. The feed has been featured in publications such as Sports Illustrated, Newsday, The Buffalo News, and The Daily Dot and has been discussed on ESPN.com, amongst other media outlets. It also has been mentioned on numerous national radio and TV programs including Mike and Mike in the Morning, NFL Live, Rusillo and Kanell, the Dan Patrick Show, and SportsCenter.
