Back in mid-November, if someone told us that the Green Bay Packers would play for an NFC Championship this season, even their most ardent supporters would have been surprised. At that time, most people believed the Packers were pretty much toast. Although pessimistic, it wasn’t such a crazy thought.  By November 20, after suffering a 42-24 loss to the Redskins on Monday Night Football, the Packers were 4-6 and their playoff chances were bleak.  Aaron Rodgers had been inconsistent throughout the season and sometimes looked like a below average quarterback (this, of course prompted the invariable questions about Rodgers’ “eliteness”).  However, just as they have done many times before, Green Bay was able to turn it around.   After that forgettable night in DC, the Packers rolled off six straight wins to win the NFC North division title.  Two playoff wins later, and Green Bay is now on its way to Atlanta to face Falcons in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game  Let’s take a look back at some of the commentary about the Packers in November…

These Packers are not turning this season around, and they’re running out of opportunities to rebuild around the 32-year-old Rodgers. A house-cleaning is in order.- Barry Petchesky, Deadspin, November 21, 2016
