While the month of April is always the peak for NFL Draft coverage, draft speculation has become a year round phenomenon. Even during the heart of college football season, people are thinking about whether and where certain college players will be drafted. To this end, one popular form of draft prognostication is through the “fake commissioner draft announcement” tweet. These tweets consist of a fake quote of the commissioner announcing the first overall pick in a future draft. They are usually posted during a college game in which a player is performing at a very high level.
As you will see, some of these tweets turn out to be hilariously off. Below is a collection from throughout the years. One caveat, keep in mind that some of these are obviously tongue-in-cheek. Nevertheless, there may be some truth to every joke!
