Back in 2013, on this day, June 18, the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat played Game 6 of the NBA Finals at American Airlines Arena in Miami. Going into the game, the Spurs led the series 3-2 and would clinch the NBA Championship with a win. The Heat were trying to get the series to Game 7. Below is a brief rundown of what transpired.
With the Heat up 89-86 in the 4th quarter, Tony Parker hit a step back three to tie it at 89 with 1:27 left. Parker then stole a Mario Chalmers pass and followed it up with an 5-foot jumper in the paint to give the Spurs a 91-89 lead with 58 seconds to go. On the next Heat possession, LeBron James lost the ball in the paint and it ended up in the hands of Parker. The Spurs eventually got it to Manu Ginobli on the other end before Ray Allen fouled him with 37 seconds left to prevent an easy layup. Ginobli hit both free throws, and the Spurs led 93-89. Then, on the ensuing Heat possession, LeBron turned it over again, which concluded in the Heat fouling Ginobli with 28 seconds left. At this point the Spurs were feeling it. And so was twitter…
Game, set, match. Spurs up by 5, score 8 in a row, with 28 seconds to go in Game 6 of the NBA finals.

LeBron with the 3, after missing one. Spurs lead down to 94-92. They can win with free throws, but have to make them. 20.1 seconds to go.

Many Heat fans had enough…
Of course, we all know now that these fans would soon regret leaving. Ginobli hit one of two free throws to give the Spurs a 94-89 lead. On the other end, LeBron missed a three pointer but Mike Miller snagged the rebound and got it back to James who hit a three with 20 seconds left. 94-92 Spurs. The Heat then fouled Leonard with 19 seconds left. Leonard hit one of two free throws.
Heat ball. 95-92 Spurs. Then this happened…

The Heat would win in overtime 103-100, and the rest is history.
