It always happens. Every year, after the brackets are released there is one team that many people proclaim will lose to a 16-seed. This year Gonzaga was the target. The Zags, who only lost one game this year, always are the subject of skepiticism around tournament time because they are prone to disappoinment and they play in a mid-major conference making it difficult to gauge their full potential.
If Gonzaga maintains a No. 1 seed, I'm calling it right now: the 'Zags become the first team to go down to a 16th seed. #SpokaneSoft

Oh, and I'm glad @AdamSparks is behind the Gonzaga bench to witness the first 16-1 upset ever.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits, the 16-seed in the West region, was given the task of taking down Gonzaga today in Salt Lake City. It looked promising at first for those hoping for the upset, as SDSU led 22-21 late in the first half. But the Zags pulled it together in the second half for a 66-46 win.
Here’s a collection of tweets from fans from Sunday night through the first half of today’s game declaring that Gonzaga would make history…
Maybe next year.
