North Carolina is the 2016-2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Champions. The Tar Heels outlasted Gonzaga 71-65 in the National Championship Game Monday night to take home the sixth title in school history and the third under head coach Roy Williams.
There was a point during the tournament when it looked like North Carolina may not make it to the second weekend. In its second round matchup against Arkansas, the Tar Heels blew a 17-point lead and were down by five with three minutes left before closing the game on a 12-0 run to beat the Razorbacks 72-65.
