The NBA announced tonight that it and the NBA Players Association have tentatively agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement which should be ratified within the next few weeks.  The seven year agreement, if ratified (ratification is “considered a relative formality“), would ensure no work stoppages at least until 2022.

Since the 2011 lockout, speculation has been rampant about whether there would be another one in 2017 when the parties could opt-out of the current CBA.  Here is a list of tweets from people who were quite sure (alright, some may be tongue-in-cheek) that a 2017 lockout was a certainty:
